  1. Sapphron Obois says:

I played at Kestone Korner in the 80s with my first jazz fusion band I formed
Time Immigrants. I will never forget Todd ( I assume he doesn’t remember me as I was unknown). I literally walked into his office, and he said let me hear what you have. And I played my cassette, right there. He listened to it for a few moments, and gave me a night. And being a “female” sax player, this was my first profound experience of club owner simply and only looking at me a a serious musician. Thank you Todd for this opportunity and recognition. It gave me the courage to continue. I have gone on to perform at numerous jazz festivals, Playboy, Newport, featured on BET, and more. It’s a tough profession, and you treated me with such respect. I am relatively unknown, but I continue to perform and people like you, are rare and greatly appreciated by musicians. Well known, and not so well known. thank you for positively and profoundly affected my life, after one brief encounter. Smart, good man of the arts. You.
