Upcoming in September & October 2013

Dearest Friends and Colleagues in Swing,

As the summer cooly crystallizes magically into hotter beats and even deeper grooves of a whole lotta swinging going down Broadway and up Eighth Avenue for some special Keystone Korner Nights at The Iridium and the extraordinary WBGO Jazz Series at 54 Below in September and October and beyond…

First, we take a little historical pause for the perspective of a couple of vintage late 1970s posters from the legendary Keystone Korner Jazz Club in North Beach in San Francisco, and note the reasonable $8.50 ticket prices ($15.00 for New Year’s Eve with a one-drink minimum with Freddie Hubbard coming in to blow us into the New Year, and Another Spring….

And now for our continued Bright Moments in the Manhattan Metropolis that our dear Friend and Grand Master Cedar Walton used to fondly call “Fund City,” we are trying to keep the prices as reasonable and accessible as possible: $25 for Keystone Korner Nights at The Iridium and $25/$35 for the WBGO Jazz Series on Tuesday nights.

One of our favorite “house bands” was the Woody Shaw/Bobby Hutcherson Quintet, always a “journey to the unforeheard.”
